Shehu Dikko flies Nigeria flag at African Forum

SHEHU Dikko, Chairman of the First Instance Body in Nigeria, a body saddled with club licensing in the domestic league, is one of the lead discussants at this year’s Soccerex African Forum to be hosted in South Africa between November 4 and 5.

Now in its third year, the Soccerex African Forum, has evolved into the continent’s largest and leading football business conference which has become the meeting place for the industry to come together to learn, network and do business. It would be held in partnership with the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government and eThekwini Municipality, at the magnificent Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Speaking yesterday from Stavanger in Norway en route to Durban, Dikko, said he was happy to be part of the forum amongst other African clubs and confederation representatives, to discuss CAF’s Club Licensing System’s implementation and how clubs from the continent can benefit from it.

“By the grace of God, I would be in Durban for the Soccerex African Forum as the Chairman of the First Instance Body of the NFF on Club licensing,” declared Dikko who would make his presentation on Tuesday. “I have been a fixture of Soccerex globally when it started since 2005 in Dubai

“The  importance of Club licensing to football development in Nigeria which am privileged to lead the process as the Chairman of the First Instance Body in Nigeria cannot be overemphasized and  the future of Football is proper club licensing as directed by FIFA which will drive professionalism in the administration, management, finances, technical development as well facilities requirements in football

“ I will be speaking on this issues aimed at getting all other African countries to take note and get serious with the club licensing as CAF have already issued a circular clearly stating that only clubs properly licensed would be allowed to play in CAF competitions as from 2015,” he added.

The Soccerex African Forum is attended by the game’s leading administrators, national sports ministers, key business figures and football legends, all with the same objective of growing the business side of football on the continent.

Other notable discussants at the event include Danny Jordaan, President of South African Football Association (SAFA), Roscoe Bowman; Group Sponsorship Manager of Barclays Africa; Benoît You; Managing Director of ASEC Mimosas; Iain Nelson, Consultant to Pepsi Football Academy amongst others.
