Today May 29th,2015,Goodluck Ebele Jonathan formally bowed out of his position as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria..His story is an inspiring yet,intricate one..Many believe his rise to power was nothing short of divine favor..But most importantly,thanks to one single phone call to his opponent and now president,Muhammadu Buhari,he is now widely received as a hero and the new face of democracy..
During the handover of his administration's reports,new president Buhari told him

"You have earned yourself a place in Nigeria's history for stabilizing our democracy. If you wanted to make things difficult, you could have but you didn't and for that, you have won the respect of world leaders" As President Jonathan said,

Nigerian President Jonathan's remarks at the presentation of handover notes to General Buhari

HIS EXCELLENCY, PRESIDENT GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN, GCFR, ON THE OCCASION OF THE PRESENTATION OF HAND OVER NOTES TO THE PRESIDENT-ELECT, MUHAMMADU BUHARI, GCFR THURSDAY, 28TH MAY, 2015
1. I welcome you all to this occasion of the formal presentation of the Hand-over notes of my Administration to the in-coming Administration of the President-Elect, General Muhammadu Buhari.

2. This event and tomorrow’s inauguration of a new administration are truly historic as it is the first time in the history of our nation that we are witnessing the democratic and orderly transfer of power at the Federal level from one political party to another.

Pres. Elect General Buhari Is Expected To Be Back To The Country Tomorrow


President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari who is currently in the UK on a private visit, will be returning to Nigeria tomorrow May 28th ahead of his inauguration as President on Friday May 29th.

According to Thisday, Buhari will arrive Nigeria on-board a British Airways flight scheduled to land at about 4am tomorrow in Nigeria. He'll arrive in company of former President Shehu Shagari who is currently in the UK on a private visit as well.

Buhari overthrew Shagari who is Nigeria's first Democratically elected President, in 1983. During his six day visit to the UK, Buhari met with UK Prime Minister David Cameron where both men felicitated with each other on their victories at the poll.

President Jonathan Recieve Peace Award, Speaks On Why He Conceded Defeat

  President Goodluck Jonathan was on Tuesday honoured with another award of “Peace Loving Global Citizen” for his decision to accept the result of the 2015 Presidential poll.
The award was presented to the President by the Universal Peace Federation(UPF) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Speaking at the event, President Jonathan urged the incoming administration to accept the contributions of all Nigerians to the progress and development of the country.

Tambuwal hands over to Ihedioha and bows out of House of Reps

 The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, bowed out on Tuesday after handing over the leadership of the legislature to his deputy, Mr. Emeka Ihedioha, who will round off the tenure of the House on June 5.

Tambuwal, who is the Governor-elect for Sokoto State, will be inaugurated on May 29 as governor.
His decision to transfer power to Ihedioha ahead of the May 29 handover date was to avoid a possible constitutional crisis of taking oath of office for two separate offices.

While he will be inaugurated as governor on May 29, his current tenure as a member of the House will end on June 6.

I am corrupt and you are a thief Gov Amaechi replies Nyesom Wike

Rivers state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi says the governor elect of his state, Nyesom Wike cannot accuse him of being corrupt and wanting to probe him because according to him "a thief cannot call me corrupt". Wike had on Monday said in a press release that he will be probing Governor Ameachi once he assumes power as Governor on Friday May 29th.

Speaking yesterday May 26th at a public lecture at the Dr. Obi Wali International Convention Centre as part of the activities to mark his 50th birthday which is today May 27th, Gov Amaechi said he had being listening to Wike who should not forget was once his Chief of staff and that if he had no other records at all, he has the records of Wike while he served as his COS.

President Jonathan will today dissolve Federal Executive Council

In preparation for its final handing over to the incoming administration, the Federal Executive Council, FEC, will be formally dissolved today.

The session which will be headed by President Goodluck Jonathan is expected to witness a formal speech by the President, where he notes his achievements while in office since May 29, 2011.

Ministers are also expected to make speeches on their experiences under President Jonathan. The meeting which is expected to start at 11am today will give each minister an opportunity to share their experience while in office.

Group drags President Elect General Buhari to court,seeks to stop his May 29th inauguration

A group, Advocacy for Societal Rights Advancement and Development Initiative, has instituted a fresh suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking to stop the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, from swearing the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday.
The suit filed on Tuesday is also seeking an order nullifying the certificate of return issued to Buhari by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

According to Punch, the plaintiff hinged the suit on the allegation that Buhari did not qualify to contest the presidential election on the grounds that he gave false information about his academic qualification to INEC.

Haliru Bello, former defence minister emerges as acting PDP BOT Chairman

Former Minister of Defence, Haliru Bello, has emerged the acting Chairman of the PDP's Board of Trustees. The decision to make him the acting Chairman was taken by key party officials at the presidential villa yesterday May 25th. He was the only one nominated by those present at the meeting.

Dr Bello replaces Chief Tony Anenih who resigned as the party's Board of Trustees Chairman last week. The meeting which started at about 9pm was presided over by President Jonathan, and had Senate President David Mark, his deputy Ike Ekweremadu, PDP Women leader Josephine Anenih and others in attendance

Rivers state outgoing Gov. Amaechi speaks on his fight with GEJ and Patience Jonathan

 Rivers state governor, Rotimi Amaechi says despite the effort by First Lady Patience Jonathan and the president to remove him from office, they are all leaving government at the same time. He said the president and his wife had wanted him to leave office before the end of his tenure but he is now seeing the end of his administration.

While speaking at the presentation of a special documentary titled 'The Amaechi Years', the governor said Patience Jonathan interfered with operations of the military apparatus in the state, ordering the transfer of military officers in the state just because they greeted him.

General Buhari must get his act right in three months – Obasanjo

 Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Sunday said Nigerians have a ” new opportunity” in the in – coming administration of General Muhammadu Buhari to make the country work for the better again.
He spoke at his Abeokuta private residence on Presidential Hilltop Estate, when women leaders in the Southwest visited him.

Obasanjo who noted that the new opportunity is God – given, said the “good things” about the next administration is that the man that would head it – Buhari, is neither “a green – horn nor a novice” in governance.

APC National Chairman John Oyegun says General Buhari needs N4.1tn for salaries, others

National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Oyegun, said the incoming All Progressives Congress administration will require about N4.1trillion to offset part of the debt left behind by the outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan administration. He said this during a retreat for Senators elected on the party’s platform, in Abuja, on Saturday.

He explained that the Buhari administration would require the funds to pay the outstanding salaries of public servants at the state and federal levels, fuel subsidies, as well as debt servicing, among other expenses.
Oyegun urged Senators to be prepared to pass requisite laws at short notices, in the course of their duty in the National Assembly.

Arewa Youth Ask Asari Dokubo To Shut-up, Says He Lack Proper Upbringing And Morals(Photo)

  According to reports in Nigeria's Leadership newspaper, Arewa Youths President, Gambo Gujungu, has lashed out at Asari Dokubo and other Niger Delta militants. He warned them against any further unpatriotic utterances nothing that they brought down the government of Goodluck Jonathan by their unpatriotic behavour.

Speaking on behalf of the Forum on Friday, its President, Gambo Gujungu, said it was obvious that Asari Dokubo lacked proper upbringing and morals, otherwise he would be quiet by now after his prophesy of doom failed, adding that the ex-militant should recount all his unguarded utterances in the build-up to the 2015 general elections.
