Soldiers beat up citizens and take over Capital Oil, load drums with fuel

After the announcement by Ifeanyi Ubah that Capital Oil would release 13 million liters of fuel to aid the suffering of Nigerians over the fuel scarcity,officials of the Nigerian Army on Monday took over the Ojodu Berger outlet of Capital Oil, buying petroleum products in drums, after scaring away thousands of consumers.
The armed personnel came in the guise of maintaining peace and order, but they soon abandoned their primary responsibility for fuel racket. They shoved, maltreated and sent away those who were on queue to be attended to, thereby gaining access to have their drums loaded with fuel.

FG of Nigeria pays N373bn as settlement to former PHCN workers


The Nigerian government has disbursed over N373 billion as payment of entitlements to former staff of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).

This was disclosed by the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), Benjamin Dikki.
Dikki made the disclosure during a meeting with the National Union of Electricity Employees of Nigeria (NUEE) in Abuja.

University of Ibadan (UI) closed for 2 weeks due to fuel scarcity

Authorities of the University of Ibadan , (UI) on Monday asked its students to vacate the premises immediately, pending the time the problem of shortage of water and electricity would be addressed.
The directive was issued to students following ‎an advice given by the Committee of Provosts and Deans to the university’s management.

The Director of Communication of the institution, Mr Muhammed Oladejo ,who confirmed the development, said the management only asked the students to proceed on a two-week mid-semester break.
The students of Independence Hall of the institution had in the early hours of Monday stage a protest.
The students complained that they were facing hard time as a result of shortage of water and electricity.

Oil marketers back to work to begin lifting of petroleum product in 6 hours

The major oil marketers association of Nigeria (MOMAN),Nigeria union of petroleum and natural gas workers (NUPENG) and the petroleum and natural gas senior staff association (PENGASSAN) have agreed to call off the strike.

They have also reached an agreement with the federal government to begin lifting of petroleum products across the country “in six hours”.

According to Magnus Abe, chairman of the senate committee on petroleum resources, the resolution was reached after a meeting of MOMAN and the committee with‎ Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, minister of finance and coordinating minister for the economy; Joseph Dawha, group managing director of the Nigeria national petroleum corporation (NNPC) and major stakeholders in the oil and gas sector.

Beat FM, Classic FM and MTN Closing Down Operations Due To Fuel Scarcity(See photos)

                    Due to the lingering fuel scarcity, Business are shutting down and Beat FM, Classic FM, Naija FM have also followed suit.
This Radio stations has announced via their twitter pages that they will be shutting down their services tonight from 8:30pm due shortage in fuel/diesel supply in the country.
MTN NG, has also sent out a formal warning to their consumers that services would be impaired due to the scarcity.

We are hoping this ends soon as businesses are being affected adversely.

Security guard acquitted after 13 years in prison over friend's death

A security guard, Abubakar Zibo, who has been in prison custody for 13 years was yesterday discharged and acquitted by a Lagos High Court, which found him not guilty of the murder of his friend, Charles.

According to Vanguard,while delivering his judgment, Justice Kayode Ogunmekan held that the prosecution failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt the allegation of conspiracy and murder levelled against him as required by Section 1 of the Evidence Act, 2011.

Nigerian scammer dupes lonely Australian woman of her $350,000 life savings

Jan Marshall thought she'd finally found love, but not only has she had her heart broken, her life savings of $350,000 have been ripped away.
Ms Marshall, 61, signed up to dating website Plenty of Fish in the hope of finding love and matched with one 'Eamon Donegal Dubhlainn'.

The scammers posted this photo (left) of the man supposed to be Eamon Donegal Dubhlainn, who proposed to Jan Marshall after a few weeks of online and phone conversations in which she accepted a marriage proposal.
Little did she know that Eamon Donegal Dubhlainn didn't exist, and his profile was invented and managed by a group of fraudsters in Nigeria that specifically targeted Ms Marshall. Ms Marshall told Daily Mail Australia.

Boko Haram survivor get a graduate certificate from American University of Nigeria, Yola Adamawa state

 26-year-old Abubakar Umar (pictured center) is a survivor of Boko Haram attack. He was shot in both arms in November 2014 in Kano during one of the terrorists attacks.

He graduated with a degree in Petroleum Chemistry at the American University of Nigeria, Yola Adamawa state yesterday May 11th.

Lagos Businessmen defrauded by British bizman tell revealed their story

12 Nigerian businessmen are facing bankruptcy from supplying diesel to a British citizen and chairman of QuestGold Resources Limited, Syed Mohammed Kamran, who allegedly defrauded them through an elaborate local purchase order (LPO) scam, in con­nivance with some of his senior Nigerian employees.

Kamran, who was alleged to be an ex-convict that relocated to Nigeria from Essex, Unit­ed Kingdom, was arrested by vigilant operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Lagos State Police Command, led by Supol Abba Kyari, at the Murtala Muhammed Internation­al Airport as he allegedly wanted to flee from the country.

A source at SARS told Sun that altogether the British con artist, who masquer­aded as a genuine businessman, serially defrauded his victims of a huge sum amounting to over N120 million through the issuance of local purchase orders (LPOs), which he paid for with dud cheques.

Furious! Doctors Go on Strike Over Colleague’s Kidnap


The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has declared an indefinite strike to protest the kidnap of a former Chief Medical Director of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Dr. Patrick Adegun, and a theatre nurse with the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti, Mrs Margaret Aladeneka.

The association said this in a letter to Governor Ayodele Fayose by the Ekiti NMA Chairman, Dr. John Akinbote and the Secretary, Dr. A. Akinyele, where they frowned on the serial kidnap of health workers in the state.

Delta State Government Begins Upgrading of Asaba International Airport to World Class

The Delta State government has commenced the upgrade of Asaba airport in line with the directive of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) which recently downgraded the airport and advised that the runway be upgraded and other facilities put in place in order that big aircraft can safely land at the airport.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Chike Ogeah. The statement reads: “On April 27, 2015, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) effected a down grade of Asaba Airport following the directive for the rehabilitation of the existing runway, taxiways and the construction of perimeter fence as well as training of technical personnel.

Three (3) Chinese men get arrested for importing contraband goods worth billions into Nigeria

The Nigeria Customs Service Anti-smuggling Taskforce today in Kano arrested three Chinese nationals for illegally importing printed textile materials worth billions of Naira to Nigeria.

The leader of the taskforce and Deputy Controller of Customs, Hassan Shallangwa, disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Kano. He said the suspects were apprehended during a specially arranged operation following a tip-off.
