Police arrest 10 suspected robbers, recover ammunition and stolen vehicles

Suspected notorious armed robbers were, weekend, arrested in different parts of Lagos State by the police. The suspects were said to be involved in different crimes, ranging from robbery, possession of illegal arms, kidnapping to diversion of goods and receiving of stolen goods in Lagos State.

According to Vanguard, the Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kenneth Nwosu, the suspects are members of different notorious robbery gangs terrorising the state.
Vanguard gathered that on November 14, four of the suspected armed robbers, who had earlier robbed one Ganiyu Mustapha of his Mark trailer with registration number, LSD 782 XB, loaded with goods valued at N20 million and three handsets at Sarant Steel Company, Kirikiri, Lagos, were apprehended by Police patrol team attached to operations department at Ogudu/Isheri in Lagos.

In the same vein, a Police patrol team attached to Ojokoro Division on November 13, intercepted a Volkswagen Golf with Reg. No. LSD220CP, driven by one Akeem Shonde.
During a search, the policemen recovered one Russian-made single rifle and 11 rounds of ammunition inside the car.

In a similar development, policemen attached to the Federal Highway patrol deployed to Agbara area in Ogun/Lagos states border, intercepted a Ford saloon car with registration number, FST598XL, driven by Saheed Oyedare, with two occupants of no fixed address.

The suspects confessed to having stolen the car from where it was parked on Lagos Island on November 5, 2014.

This is just as one Amos Kuesi was arrested along Iju road by Pen-cinema round about, Agege, Lagos, with a bag containing two locally made revolver pistols with four 5.56mm live ammunition by policemen from Pen Cinema, Agege division on routine patrol.

According to Lagos State Police spokesman, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, two of the cases are currently being investigated at the Special Anti-robbery Squad, SARS, Ikeja, while four others are under investigation at the State Criminal Investigations Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba.
