Military Detonates Explosive As Tension Rises In Maiduguri
The trouble northeastern part of the country goes under tension sharply in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, as the military detonated an explosive found by residents. The explosive was found in the part of the city known as “Customs.”
In addition to detonating the explosive, soldiers accompanied by civilian members of the Joint Task Force conducted house-to-house searches in some parts of the city early Friday morning.
Egypt Court dismisses all charges against Mubarak
An Egyptian Court has dropped all charges against former President Hosni Mubarak who was accused of ordering the killing of 239 protesters during the 2011 uprising that removed him from office. The court also dismissed corruption charges against Mr. Mubarak and his sons Alaa and Gamal.

It was a tale of tears and sorrow as a 15-year-old boy was killed in a kerosene explosion that occurred on Thursday in Benin, the Edo State capital.
The incident which took place in the Textile Mill area of the city, also affected a woman, Loveth Odeh and her 5-year-old son whose name was given as Wisdom, as they suffered several degrees of burns from the fire that followed the explosion and are being treated at the Benin Central Hospital.

More than 100 people were killed and hundreds more injured in multiple bomb attacks at the Central Mosque in Kano on Friday, witnesses say. The exact number of deaths are still unclear as police have not issued a figure yet.
A spokesperson for the Kano Command of the Nigeria Police Force, Mustapha Abubakar, said police were “still taking stock of the actual persons that have died” and could not give clear figures as of yet.

A blast just occured at the Central Mosque in Kano as Muslims were having their Friday prayers. Sahara reporters report. The Kano Central Mosque is close to the Emir of Kano’s palace. And the emir leads the prayers on Fridays.

After OPEC meeting, oil price slips below Nigeria’s new benchmark
Less than 24 hours after the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, ended its 166th meeting, with a resolution to keep production quotas unchanged, oil prices dipped further close to $70 per barrel on Friday, surpassing a new benchmark proposed by the Nigerian government.
Latest OPEC Secretariat calculations on Friday showed that the price of its basket of 12 crudes stood at $70.80 dollars per barrel on Thursday, shedding $2.90, or 3.94 per cent from the $73.70 per barrel recorded on Thursday.

A wicked step-father has raped and beaten a 3-year-old girl to death.
Pascal Kaufmann, a German national, has been arrested for raping and beating his 3-year-old step-daughter, Charlie Brame, to death, in what has been described as the most brutal crime against a child.
Charlie whose mother had separated from her real father, was left in the care of Kaufmann who only moved in with the mother barely a week earlier, was brutally raped, beaten and neglected by her step-father before she died in a hospital, the Florida police said.
