Court throw out suit by Ameachi seeking to stop Wike's inauguration as governor

 According to thisday Efforts by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and outgoing Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi, to stop the inauguration of the State governor-elect, Chief Nyesom Wike, has again suffered set-back yesterday, as the Federal High Court sitting in Owerri Imo State, struck out the suit instituted by the Ameachi, reports Thisdaylive.

The presiding judge, Justice S. M. Shuaibu, struck out the matter on the grounds that his court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the matter.

He held that by the provisions of the Federal High Court 2011, notice on the venue of filing suits and the territorial jurisdictional limits of the judicial divisions of the Federal High Court enacted by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court pursuant to section 19 of the Federal High Court Act, indicates Port Harcourt and not Owerri is the place in which the suit ought to have been filed.

Reacting to the ruling, the Chairman of the PDP in Rivers State, Felix Obuah, praised the judiciary for rising up to the occasion as the true hope of the common man.
