Beware of those Politician defecting From PDP to APC now, Justice Abdullahi warns General Buhari

FORMER President of the Court of Apeal. Justice Umar Abdullahi has advised the president-elect, retired General mohammadu Buhari, to be magnanimous in victory and   govern Nigeria equitably irrespective of party differences.

Justice Abdullahi who said he knew Buhari when they were growing up said the president- elect needs patience, support and prayers from all and sundry to enable him live above board.

The retired Court of Appeal justice insisted that the first thing he must do is to develop the template to tackle the issues of insecurity, development of the health sector, agriculture and education which was the only way he can win the hearts of Nigerians. He spoke in an interview with Saturday Vanguard

Excerpts
What Can you tell us  about Muhammadu Buhari’s  childhood days as you were friends?

He is known to be a forthright person. very calm, calculative and a highly disciplined individual who will not compromise his integrity for anything. He is also very loving and a careering person and I think Nigeria has got it right this time around.  All I can say is that we should rally round him and give him all the support he needs to enable him succeed in office.  I

can tell you that with  Buhari in the saddle and with the support of all Nigeria  will surely reach her destination.  With the victory of the President Elect Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, it can no longer be business as usual because Buhari that I know is one that will not condone corruption and nepotism.

What specific area of the sector of the Economy do you think needs urgent attention?

Honestly speaking, if  Buhari can adequately give priority to the development of health, insecurity, power and agricultural sector of the Economy he will, in no small measure, win the hearts of Nigerians because these are some of the major areas that need drastic actions.

Your comment  on the place of sycophants in this  admiration?

Let me state here  frankly  that the president elect   must be very careful of the caliber of people he chooses to work with him.  He must watch out and be wary of sycophants who are already lurking around him.

He should be careful also of those politicians who are also defecting from their various political parties to his All progressives Congress Party  APC  as some of them may not mean well by their actions. If not for personal interest will they be moving from party to party?

What do you think the victory of Gen. Muhammodu Buhari portends for Nigeria?

The victory to me was an indication that Democracy has come to stay in Nigeria. This is the first time in the history of Nigeria that a  President will be changed from office through the Ballot Box and   through a peaceful process. I commend President Goodluck Jonathan for being state-manly enough to concede defeat even hours before the official declaration of the results. By this singular act  he has not only just won the admiration of the world but has saved Nigeria the trouble of having another civil war.

What’s your take on INEC performance in the just concluded presidential elections?

I must commend Professor Attahiru Jega for being courageous enough to conduct an election adjudged to be one of the most peaceful, free, fair and credible elections in the country.  Although there were  little hitches here and there I think the electoral umpire should really  be commended.
