Mr Namairo Babai, younger brother to the DG, Alhaji Illu, told the Nigerian Tribune in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, that she was killed in her home in Katsina State when her husband, Suleiman Mohammed, was on his way to Zaria in Kaduna State, for his doctorate degree programme. He said:
Her husband was on his way to Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria. After the weekend, when he tried calling but couldn’t get her, he sent someone to check; he was told that she was slaughtered and was in a pool of her blood.”
He added said the deceased, who got married two years ago, would be buried by 4pm on Tuesday in her husband’s home town in Katsina State, according to Muslim rites.
Among the first callers at the compound on Shendam Road in Lafia, family compound on Shendam Road in Lafia was the wife of the state governor, Hajia Salamatu Tanko Al-Makura.
