Senator Ifeanyi Okowa Emerges As Delta State PDP Governorship Candidates

                       
The Senator representing Delta North in the upper house Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa (popularly called Ekwueme) having polled the highest votes in the Delta State PDP Governorship Primaries has been declared winner. He is from the Ika L.G.A, an Igbo speaking part of Delta State.

This will be the first time an Igbo Deltan (Anioman) will emerge as the front runner for a Gubernatorial election in Delta state, since Dennis Osadebe, the former premier of the midwest region. The post was zoned to Delta North by the outgoing governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan.
Ifeanyi Okonkwo, born July 8 1959, was elected Senator for Delta North in April 2011 and remains in the Senate till date. He is a 1981 graduate of Medicine from the University of Ibadan and was the Director of Victory Medical Centre Igbanke before joining politics. He also served as commissioner of Agriculture and Natural resources (1999-2001), Water resources developement (2001-2003) and Health (2003-2006) in Delta State.
