Champions League Round 16 Draw: Arsenal lucky to get Monaco, Man City to face Barcelona
Arsenal will be happy on the draw they got for the second round of the Champions League with the gunners now going to play French side, Monaco in the round of 16. Having finished second of their group behind Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal were hoping to avoid any of the big guns in the knockout stages.
Yesterday, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger joked that he might be going to church to pray for his team to avoid a tough draw, in fact he was emphatic when he said that they wanted Monaco.
And he got his wish as he will now be facing his former team that he once coached, and they will at least avoid the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich at this stage.
Meanwhile,Manchester City was not so lucky in the draw. The English Champions who qualified on the last matchday in the group stages, will now face Barcelona in the knockout stages, in what will be a repeat of last year's second round clash.
The other tasty game in the last 16 will be between Juventus and 2013 finalists Borussia Dortmund. How the teams have been drawn:
Paris St Germain vs Chelsea
Manchester City vs Barcelona
Bayer Leverkusen vs Atletico Madrid
Juventus vs Borussia Dortmund
Schalke 04 vs Real Madrid
Shakhtar Donetsk vs Bayern Munich
Arsenal vs Monaco
Basel vs Porto
