Nigerian Army Receives New Military Equipment To Fight Insurgency
Minister of Finance Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala claimed yesterday, September 30, that the Nigerian authorities had purchased new military equipment to fight insurgency in the North-East.
The minister spoke after providing relief materials to insurgency victims at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Girei, Adamawa State, P.M. News reports.
Okonjo-Iweala said that the newly purchased equipment had finally arrived to Nigeria and expressed hope that terrorism would soon be tackled in the country.
According to the minister, the recent victory of the Nigerian army in the clashes against Boko Haram in Konduga testified to the ability and skills of the Nigerian military.
She added that the officials decided to invest into equipment purchase because of being truly committed to the idea of improving military capability.
It is believed that some of the towns in the North-East are still under control of Boko Haram.
Victims lament over the situation in their villages, as a result of attacks they were forced out of homes and take refuge in the nerighbouring areas.
One of the victims identified as Alhaji Madu urged the Nigerian authorities to enhance effort.
