Kano State Police Command has arrested 14 people for allegedly setting election materials ablaze at Madobi town in Kano.
Information gathered from the security operatives revealed that one Ibrahim Hassan led 19 others at Kauran mata in Madobi Local Government Area of the state and hijacked election materials from INEC officials. The accused forcefully hijacked the election materials meant for Saturday governorship and House assembly election from INEC officers, and set the materials on fire.

Spokesman of the Police in Kano, ASP Magaji Musa Majia, who confirmed the incident, said when the state police command were informed of the incident, they mobilised their men to scene and arrested 14-out of the 19 people that were said to have carried out the attack. THISDAY correspondent observed that voting began at about 1:45 noon in Tarauni filin Kasu, Dorayi babba polling units and some parts of Sabon Gari in Kano metropolis with large voters’ turnout. Vote counting begins in polling units of Gwarzo, Shanono, Rogo and Karaye Local Government Areas .
In Ganduje Village of Dawakin Tofa Local government of Kano state, the deputy Governor of Kano State, who is the APC governorship candidate was the first to cast his vote.
Speaking to reporters after casting his vote, the APC Governorship Candidate, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, expressed confidence that APC will sweep the elections in the state.
In Katsina state also, voting has also started in some polling units which is the home state of President-elect General Muhammadu Buhari. Buhari, who arrived Katsina on Thursday after receiving PDP defectors into APC.
Buhari was screened and cast his vote at Sarkin Yaki polling unit in Daura town. There was also poor turnout of voters at Babura and Ringim where the candidate of APC Alhaji Badaru Abubakar and Malam Aminu Ringin, respectively, came from.
