Footballer beaten to death in Argentina (Watch Video)
A footballer, Franco Nieto has lost his life following the beating he got in a football match in Argentina. The incident occurred last Saturday during a match in the Argentine third division between Tiro Federal and Chacarita.
A fight broke out after eight players were red-carded, which subsequently led to the match being called off after it turned violent.
The 33-year old Nieto, who captains his team, was said to have been attacked by a cross section of people after the game was abandoned.
Regional police chief Fabian Bordon recounting what transpired, told Todo Noticias television how the player was murdered, saying that he was attacked by people: “including a player from the opposing team, an assistant coach and a hooligan,” he said.
The nephew of the dead player, said that he sustained severe injuries that he couldn't recover from.
People came to insult him. They kicked him and punched him. He tried to defend himself but he was struck violently in the head. He was operated on Tuesday, and died today,” Pablo Nieto said.
