Aspirant’s Police orderly, nephew shot dead in Edo State
Armed bandits on Wednesday, attacked the convoy of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial aspirant in Edo State, Ehiogie West-Idahosa. The incident left his police orderly and his nephew dead. It was gathered from the family that the slain nephew was the only child of West Idahosa’s sister.
Sources hinted that the politician’s convoy was returning from the bank, where they had gone to cash an unspecified amount of money and was trailed by the hoodlums to his residence at Aikhonvbare in Benin City, where they were attacked at a location close to the Grace Group campaign office in the area.
The Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, DSP Noble Owoh, who confirmed the incident disclosed that the two casualties were in the convoy of West-Idahosa.
He gave the name of the dead policeman as Usifo David attached to the Police Protection Unit, Benin.
He said there was an exchange of fire between the armed robbers and the policemen in the politician’s convoy but that the robbers particularly targeted a black Ford car in the convoy where the policeman and the politician’s nephew were killed.
He, however, said West-Idahosa escaped unhurt and that police had taken possession of the attacked vehicle while investigations have commenced.
