Thousands of Enugu residents storm Akanu Ibiam International Airport To Welcome Senator Ayogu Eze
Residents of Enugu State stormed the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu in their thousands on Saturday to welcome Senator Ayogu Eze, who arrived the State to present himself to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship screening committee.
The mammoth crowd, made up of different groups, took over the Airport in their numbers, as early as 9 am.
In a short speech after he alighted from the aircraft, Senator Eze said his governorship ambition was divine and for the well-being of Enugu people and the South-East in general.
Eze, who is the Senate Committee Chairman on Works, said that his aspiration to rule Enugu state next year was built on God, stressing that nothing would take away his victory at the polls. He stated that his mission to Enugu Lion building was to restore the state as the pride of the southeast, where everybody including non-easterners could be guaranteed sense of belonging in the affairs of the state.
He assured that his government would provide jobs, justice, equity and fair play to all manner of Nigerians.
He stated that his administration would be an all inclusive one where non–indigenes of the state could be appointed into various political offices to enable them bring their wealth of experience and intellect in the running of the affairs of the state, so as to create conducive environment for good governance to thrive.
He told the jubilant crowd: “God has built our ambition on a solid foundation. Nothing can eat away our victory; no storm can sweep it away. No rain can beat it off. Our opponents have been wondering where our strength is coming from. I derive my strength from two sources, God and the people.
“I want to assure you that the government we want to put in place will be a government that will belong to all of you. Our God father is in heaven and incidentally, the God father belongs to all of us, so we cannot all petition him at the same time. I want to assure you that in that government, there will be justice for all, there will be opportunity for all, and we will do things here that people will not believe it is possible in a state like Enugu. We will change the face of Enugu and generate employment. We have already mapped out our strategies and we will be monitoring creation of employment as they do
on monthly basis as they do in America. We will publish it because we have a directorate for it. We have a vision and the capacity to do it and by Gods grace, we will get to the Lion building”.
Apparently referring to the humiliation he suffered when he objected the outcome of a meeting at government house, Enugu where some members of the party individuals pronounced an aspirant as a ‘consensus’ aspirant, Chief Eze said “some people say we are drunk, but we told them that we are drunk with the wine of the holy spirit and when you are drunk with the wine of the holy spirit, it removes the spirit of fear from you, it moves you around and takes you to places you never imagined, it makes you bold and you will go without going weary.
“Since then, we have been going without going weary. I want to ask you if you would have believed it if anybody had told you two months about the revolution that had been made in the politics of Enugu state. I knew deep down that it was possible it is God first, second and all the way”.
He assured the people that his government would protect the interest of all those now working to ensure it secured victory at the polls, urging
them not to relent as “I am going to empower those who are toiling and
working. This government will be a government of politicians, for
politicians and by politicians and this government is going to make sure we bring everybody in for equity and justice”.
On his effort in creating job for the people of the state, he disclosed that “about 25 people from Enugu state are undergoing interview at the Central Bank for employment, the people never spoke to me and I called using the messages I received, another 35 are
undergoing tests at the FRCN, Nsukka.
“My mission is to make the government house Enugu the home of everybody in the southeast. You are
going to see Commissioners not from Enugu and they are going to bring ideas that will ensure that we recapture Enugu as the home of the
southeast. I am going to anchor this place as the true headquarters of
the southeast. This is the time to integrate all views and opinions to work in synergy to generate employment for our people.
“This mission is of God and there is nobody that can stop a seed God has planted. We are not fighting anybody but in the fruition of time, all forces will coalesce to join the efforts we are making here”.
