Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday blasted the much-advertised integrity of APC presidential candidate, Gen Muhammadu, when he declared that money meant for road construction were diverted and used to purchase Mosquito nets, under buhari, during his tenure as 'PTF' Chairman, reports Nigerianpilot.
Obasanjo who stated this, when buhari visited him in Abeokuta, Ogun State yesterday, further said, he swept the report which indicted Buhari under the carpet because buhari told him, he could not control the shady deals under his nose.
Obasanjo told buhari that the agency under him deviated from its core mandate of building roads to buying mosquito nets and other questionable items.
According to Obasanjo, when his administration investigated the account of the agency under Buhari, it was discovered that there were inconsistencies in the prices of commodities bought by it.
The former president hinted that when Buhari was confronted with the report of the investigation, his response was that he tried his best to ensure that he managed the affairs of the agency well but that they handled billions of naira.
Recall, Buhari was appointed chairman of the PTF by the late head of state, Gen. Sani Abacha, which served as an interventionist agency to use the excess funds from fuel price hike to velop infrastructure in some critical sectors.
