Brutal Rapist Marries His 13-y/o Victim With Her Father's Blessings

A man has given over his 13-year old daughter in marriage to one of the four men who allegedly gang-raped her. Last month, the Kano State Hisbah Board's Dala Command arrested the four men over the rape allegation. The four men were arrested, naked at an uncompleted building after they had brutally and forcefully raped the young girl.

During interrogation, three of the men confessed to raping her, so it was an open and shut case until Ja'afar, one of the men begged the girl's father to give his blessings so he could marry his daughter.

Malam Ya'u, the girl's father, said: “We were searching for the whereabouts of my daughter when we received the sad news. Being a mechanic, I was at my garage when the Hisbah called me. I couldn’t believe what I heard,” he said.

He was enraged at first, admittedly, "but when all of them showed remorse, especially the one pleading to marry her, Ja’afar, I decided to temper justice with mercy,” he said.

Ja'afar on his part has introduced his family to the girl's. Apparently Malam Ya'u was already friendly with Ja'afar's uncle before then.

He came with his uncle, who it turned out I already knew and had a cordial relationship with,” he said. “So I accepted the request and will marry her off to him. In fact, the date for the wedding has been fixed since. I decided to allow him marry the girl because our consultations with our Malams (Islamic clerics) showed that there is nothing wrong about that."
