The whole of Africa will miss Nigeria in Equatorial Guinea" - CAF president Issa Hayatou

                        Hayatou3
President of the Confederation of African Football(CAF) Issa Hayatou has admitted that Nigeria will be missed at the 2015 African Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea.

Nigeria failed to secure qualification for the tournament after finishing third in their group to lose out to South Africa and Congo who made it to the competition.
It meant that Nigeria will not be able to defend the trophy that they won last year in South Africa. In a statement released by the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) Hayatou noted that the value the Super Eagles brings to the Nations Cup, will be missed.

The whole of Africa will miss Nigeria in Equatorial Guinea. But the absence will not in any way diminish your stature as a very big and influential nation in the African game," Hayatou said.

It would have been good to have the defending champions in Equatorial Guinea. Nigeria brings so much value to the Africa Cup of Nations. However, we know that you will come back much stronger, as you did in winning the Cup in South Africa last year after missing out on the 2012 championship
