Rivers State students both home and diaspora to recieve bursary

                         amaechi
Gov. Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers has approved funds for payment of students’ bursary and overseas scholarship for the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 academic sessions according to Mr Benjamin Orugbani, Chairman of the Rivers State scholarship Board (RSSB), on Thursday in Port Harcourt.

However, Orugbani did not mention the amount approved, but said that more than 35,000 students would benefit from the scheme.

He said that each undergraduate student was entitled to N10,000 while graduating students would collect N20,000, subject to student capitation from the student union government.

``The board shall on Monday Nov. 10, commence payment of students’ bursary; it would continue to authenticate students for the payment by way of continuous re-verification of beneficiaries.

``The requirements for the re-verification are as follows: JAMB/School Admission Letter, School Identification Cards, Local Government Identification Letters, Re-validation of Bank Account details and Students’ Mobile Phone Numbers,’’ he said.

He warned impersonators to desist from such acts or face the wrath of the law.

Orugbani, on behalf of the board and Rivers students, thanked the governor for the gesture and promised to effectively disburse the fund to the students.

While advising the students to cooperate with the board to ensure smooth disbursement of the fund, he enjoined them to shun acts capable of disrupting peace in the state during the forthcoming general election.
