For the average viewer, small screen thrillers like "House of Cards" and "Scandal" offer a dark and dramatic glimpse into the what-ifs of top-tier politicians in Washington. But what do the shows offer someone who's actually served as commander-in-chief?

A glimpse into what might have been! Former President Bill Clinton stopped by "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" Tuesday and admitted he's a big fan of those TV hits and had a laugh about the lesson he's learned from watching them.
"The thing about 'Scandal' and 'House of Cards' that makes it fun to watch is that I can't imagine that either a President ["Cards" Frank Underwood] or the president's chief of staff on 'Scandal' could really get away with murder," Clinton explained. "I wish I had known that while I was in office."

In fact, the more he thought about it, the more it amused him.

Think of all the opportunities I missed!" he joked. "So many times, so many people had that coming. Crazy."

Another of Clinton's favorite shows? "How to Get Away With Murder," but don't go thinking the murder part is what draws him to that one, too. As it turns out, he just really loves any show that writer-producer Shonda Rhimes has a hand in, adding, "I still watch 'Grey's Anatomy' — devoted 'Grey's Anatomy' fan."

But his take on TV wasn't the only reveal he offered up on "Ellen." The former president also promised he had something to say about wife Hillary Clinton.

“I understand you want to make a big announcement about your wife today,” DeGeneres said.

Alas, it wasn't quite the will-she/won't-she announcement everyone's been waiting for. Rather than sharing whether or not she'll be running for president in 2016, he simply noted that "she’s the happiest grandmother in the world.”

No surprise there!
