The Nigerian Army has released another 125 persons arrested for allegedly having links with Islamist sect, Boko Haram.

The Army had on Thursday released 42 persons to Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, after they were investigated and found to have no links with the group.

One of the suspects released, Salisu Adamu, a 3rd year chemistry student at the University of Maiduguri, had said that he was among thousands of innocent Nigerians illegally arrested, detained and tortured for more than three years by the military.

While handing over the new set to Shettima, spokesman of the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maiduguri, Colonel Sani Usman, said 254 persons were intercepted fleeing the state after an attack on Boko Haram strongholds in September.

According to him, the arrest was made in Biu on 23rd September and after proper investigation, the 125 men now handed to the governor were found to be innocent.
