Kidnapped Ijaw Monarch Rescued By Joint Task Force
The Joint Task Force code named Operation Pulo Shield has saved the life of Kidnapped Perekere of Oporomor Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, King Augustine Ebikeme. The monarch was abducted last sunday in Ethiope East local government area of Delta State armed men believed to be commercial kidnappers.
He was saved yesterday afternoon by JTF officials in coerce with men from the Department of State Security.
The monarch is said to have been put in an uncompleted building in a bush at Kokori, the security officials had to engage in a shoot out with kidnappers to get the monarch free.
JTF spokesman, Lt Col Mustapha Anka said: “His Royal Majesty was rescued unhurt while suspects fled into surrounding swampy forested area. The suspects are being trailed, while the house used as hideout was set ablaze insitu”.
The monarch was transfered to the eputy Governor, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (rtd) by the JTF Commander, Maj. Gen. Emmanuel Atewe in Government House, Yenagoa late Monday night.
He is the spiritual leader of Egbesu, the Ijaw war deity and first vice chairman of the Bayelsa State Traditional Rulers Council.
