Court Frees Ogwuche, Suspected Nyanya Bombing Mastermind
A fedral court in Abuja has freed Aminu Ogwuche, suspected to have been the mastermind of the Nyanya bomb attack in Abuja, Premium Times reports.
The two-count terrorism charges brought against Mr. Ogwuche was struck out by the court, after months of trial for the attack in April 2015 that killed more than 70 people.
The court let him go on the basis of a lack of diligent prosecution on the part of the state.
The Nigerian government accused Mr. Ogwuche, a suspected Boko Haram member, of being behind the attack. The government said Mr. Ogwuche fled to Sudan after coordinating the attack.
He was later repatriated to Nigeria to face charges.
