A fire outbreak caused by a kerosene explosion has claimed the life of a teenager.
It was a tale of tears and sorrow as a 15-year-old boy was killed in a kerosene explosion that occurred on Thursday in Benin, the Edo State capital.

The incident which took place in the Textile Mill area of the city, also affected a woman, Loveth Odeh and her 5-year-old son whose name was given as Wisdom, as they suffered several degrees of burns from the fire that followed the explosion and are being treated at the Benin Central Hospital.
According to Odeh, the incident occurred at about 3am, when she was refilling the kerosene inside her lamp, after she discovered that the lamp was almost extinguishing, believing that the kerosene must have been adulterated.

"There was no light and I put on my lamp. I tried to refill it. It was when I was refilling that the whole thing exploded.

Before I knew what was happening, it was fire all over me and the whole place was filled with smoke."

The fire claimed the life of the young chap who was the nephew of Loveth's husband, Sunday who was not at home when the fire broke out. The poor boy was fast asleep and before help could get to him, he had lost his life in the inferno.
