The police on Tuesday arraigned two secondary school students in an FCT Area Court, Lugbe, over alleged theft in a female hostel of the University of Abuja. The accused are 16 and 15 years old girls, who reside in Iddo Village, Airport Road, Abuja.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Iliya Maji, told the court that they jointly stole students’ property in the hostel, in contravention of Sections 287 and 79 of the Penal Code

Maji listed the stolen items as a pair of white shoes, textbooks, T-shirts and musical instruments.

The prosecutor did not state the value of the stolen property.

He submitted that the Security Unit of the university reported the case to the Iddo Police Stations on Oct. 25

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Judge, Gambo Garba, granted them bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties, each.

Garba adjourned the case till Nov. 21 for mention. (NAN)
