According to Dailypost; The fire besieged the second floor of the airport, this afternoon. However, it was reportedly doused shortly after it started, preventing any serious damage to the building.
Sources revealed that the fire which started at the second floor of the terminal in the commercial department of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), occurred as a result of a surge in electricity supply.
Meanwhile, normalcy is gradually returning as the fire has been extinguished while airport officials and passengers are going about their activities.
According sources, the inferno which reportedly engulfed the second floor of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) terminal was allegedly caused by power surge. It was gathered that the fire was quickly put out before serious damage was caused.
It was further gathered that the fire which started at the second floor of the terminal in the commercial department of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) left passengers, airport officials as well as those at the departure hall scampering for safety immediately after they sighted the smoke coming out from the top floor of the building.
