Ceasefire: 218 Chibok Girls to be Released on Monday

According to the Punch newspaper, one of the dividends of the ceasefire arrangement between the Boko Haram sect and the Federal Government may be the release of the 218 abducted Chibok girls.

Speaking through the military, the FG announced the ceasefire and assured Nigerians that the Chibok girls would soon be released. This deal was made public y the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh.

The President’s Principal Secretary, Hassan Tukur, told BBC Focus on Africa that an agreement to end the Boko Haram hostilities had been reached after talks with the violent group.

He said the agreement was reached after one month of negotiations in Saudi Arabia. The negotiation was said to have been headed by the Chadian President Idriss Deby.

Danladi Ahmadu has said that the girls are 'in good condition and unharmed.
