Boko Haram released Wife of Cameroon PM and 27 hostages, says Cameroon government

                              
Twenty-seven hostages seized by suspected militants Boko Haram in Cameroon this year, including 10 Chinese workers, have been released.

The Chinese workers were seized in May near the town of Waza, 12 miles (20km) from the Nigerian border. The others freed include the wife of Cameroon’s deputy prime minister who was seized in July, the presidency said.



Their release was made known in a statement released this morning by Cameroon's Minister of Information, Issa Bakary

The 27 hostages kidnapped on May 16 2014 at Waza and on July 27th at Kolofata were given to Cameroonian authorities. Ten Chinese, the wife of the Vice Prime Minister, Amadou Ali, the Lamido of Kolofata, and members of their families kidnapped with them are safe" the statement read in part

It didn't state whether their release was made possible through negotiations or if it was a voluntary act by the sect members
